One of the very cool things about Jack Reacher novels is that the 24 of them comprise Reacher's life and the characters in one novel show up again in the next or later novels and readers find out a little more about Reacher and more about some of these truly amazing secondary characters. And two of the short stories are about how Reacher grew up but so true to what sort of adult he became in the later novels.

I like how Fields looked at the children’s point of view on the country club swimming pool incident. She asked questions that should have been asked of each child BEFORE interacting with their parents. There is a truth that innocence plays a huge factor in how events are viewed and impacts a person (perhaps even for life). Chances are good that the children who were taught about race and racism, responded with that thought in mind immediately before hearing anything about the event. Whereas the children who were not exposed to those premature thoughts didn’t think race had anything to do with the events. Perhaps wealth status came to mind for those children. Or it could be that it was a social invasion or overcrowding. Then again, perhaps until they heard the rhetoric, they didn’t even know what to think was the cause. As an Army brat, traveling to different countries and different parts of America, skin color, racism, and gender doesn’t play as big a factor as safety. The initial actions of people around you teach those children how to respond to people. There is a bigger factor at play and I have yet to hear anyone from any race, culture, religion, or any other factor investigate that as the bigger problem. It is the root of where the problems begin and continue. The pool incident is a great example and opportunity to turn the funnel around and discuss the mere genesis of the issue.

Sanctions implying "costs" resulting in an opportunity for the sanctioned to invest toward solutions that work for them? Is that really what we want to do to preserve or promote US interests? Short-sighted decision-making can become nefast to our long-term interests. Decision proposals need to be studied further as to the hypothetically different responses that could ensue before taking them. I think the only way we'll get back on track is by bringing our "made in USA" back, in other words, increasing production and manufacturing using technology. The real issue with the sanctions that these two are not pointing out is that these sanctions are giving incentive for the rest of the world to reduce their dependence on these US controlled networks. Other countries have seen what these two are talking about for years.

Many American countries are over 100 years older the even Jamestown (our oldest US city). The United States as well as Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, etc. Welcomed millions of Europeans over hundreds of years. During WWII, many Canadians and Unitedstadians plus a smaller amount of Latin Americans were the AMERICANS that helped the Europeans fight against Hitler. If the US systematically abused its influence over global finance, the developed democracies (EU, UK, Australia, Canada, Japan, S. Korea, Taiwan, Israel) would have developed an alternative financial system.

So: The US provides enormously valuable financial services internationally. The US could decide to withhold these services from countries, like Russia, under extreme circumstances. (Isn't this old news?)

I thought at first some of these people had understanding of what reality was. Then I started to see flaws in the thinking that was heavily blended with propaganda. By the end, I concluded it was mostly propaganda, with a pinch of thinking outside commonly held beliefs.
